The Job Junction is a structured programme of planned activities and business engagement, accessed via two flexible routes, designed to bring work and to life in schools continuously throughout the school day.

There are two routes from which to choose the level of careers guidance and development provision which best suits you –

  • Discovery Programme
  • Be Brilliant Workshops

What is the Discovery Programme?
The Job Junction’s Discovery Programme is a fully tested and supported, proven programme which is easily implemented within a school to provide an integrated, highly visible, active careers and employability hub which is staffed by a coach(es) and pupils.

Designed to bring work and entrepreneurship to life in the school continuously via an accessible drop in centre, structured activities, one-off challenges/tasks and opportunities for pupils to hear from and engage with employers and business people.

It exceeds your statutory duties and obligations in terms of careers guidance.

It’s available for you to buy under license now!

What are the benefits of the Discovery Programme?

  • fulfill your statutory duty in the provision of CEIAG
  • access external independent careers guidance
  • achieve ‘outstanding’ Ofsted in careers guidance
  • monitoring and reporting of outcomes
  • satisfy statutory guidance obligations
  • access support with business engagement via Positive Links
  • easy implementation of a low cost, whole-school proven framework

Is The Job Junction’s Discovery Programme classroom based?
The Discovery Programme model has been designed, developed and fully tested to be an accessible and physical part of your secondary school (ideally in the heart of the school).

This space is dedicated for the provision of careers exploration, constantly displaying provided Job Junction information and resources such as vacancies and industry information, as well as being the place where pupils go to: meet businesses, learn about careers and develop personal and employability skills.

It’s purposefully based outside of the classroom in a highly visible part of the school. Schools have chosen to locate The Job Junction in a variety of settings including just off the school’s reception area, within an atrium style environment etc.

What does the Licence provide?
The licence for The Job Junction Discovery Programme quite literally provides everything you need to exceed your statutory duty and guidance obligations and achieve outstanding Ofsted careers reports in one low cost, easy to implement programme!

The structured programme provides your school with everything from the core fundamental principles of an effective careers guidance strategy through to tactical delivery elements including lesson plans, presentation slides, operation manuals, training tools, templates and monitoring software to help establish, manage and measure and report your Job Junction’s outcomes. It also affords you access to Positive Links which is our online business engagement tool and which allows you to link with businesses in you local area which are happy to work with your schools to provide real life business engagement and support.

When should the Discovery Programme be delivered?
The ideal delivery model sees the Discovery Programme being delivered twice weekly, perhaps over the lunchtime period, over the 3 terms of the academic year. It’s flexible enough however to be delivered at any time of the school day and we have licensees delivering during form time and after school.

Who will deliver the Discovery Programme?
The Job Junction Discovery Programme is managed by one, sometimes two, designated and fully trained Job Junction Coaches (teaching staff or in-house careers coordinator) who recruit up to 12 volunteer students (the DREAM team) to assist with the delivery to the rest of the school, (across all years).

Although you may choose to employ an external co-ordinator to manage your Job Junction, there is clear co-ordination with the school’s careers agenda and collaboration with the staff member responsible for careers provision.

The Delivery Team will receive everything they need to easily establish, deliver and measure The Job Junction.

What are the Be Brilliant Workshops?
The Be Brilliant Workshops are available under licence for 12 months. They consist of a set of five, year-appropriate careers-led workshops which can be delivered during PHSE lessons.

The Workshops are available on licence as a complete set of five Year 7 through to Year 11 workshops or they are available individually for specific year groups.

They are ideal when used in conjunction with the Discovery Programme to complement and enhance the careers-led learning but they can also be used as a standalone workshop.
