Course Content, Aims & Objectives

the Job Junction Primary programme content satisfies a specific set of aims and objectives which also support the National Curriculum objectives.

Learning Theme – Raising Aspirations

The principle learning theme for this programme is ‘raising aspirations’ whilst developing employability skills for the future.

There are some obvious links with the upper key stage 2 curriculum throughout the programme as follows:-

  • English – language and literacy skills – via spoken language, reading, writing and vocabulary. The children are asked to produce written work throughout the programme and are encouraged to read out/present work and to discuss their answers to develop oracy skills with emphasis on clear, confident, enthusiastic communication which links with future employability skills.
  • Listening skills, good behaviour, team work – are developed as part of the programme and team leaders are appointed to recognise and promote a positive display of these qualities and skills.
  • Oracy skills – are further developed with pupils speaking with external businesses at the careers carousel event, which involves asking relevant work related questions and discussing careers, acting appropriately and respectfully with professional people/adults from industry.
  • Music – The pupils are encouraged to listen to and confidently sing The Job Junction Anthem (positive, inspirational lyrics) with an option to include this with practice using musical instruments, actions and perform at the leavers’ assembly.
  • Computing – The use of technology i.e. tablets/ PCs/laptops is incorporated into one module where the pupils have to access a careers website to practice research skills and learn more about career options and ‘the world of work’.
